How does the Avid FriendChip work? If your pet were to be recovered, the person that found him would simply take him to a local animal shelter or veterinarian and have him scanned for a microchip. If your pet is recovered by a local shelter, they would routinely scan him for a microchip. When the Avid FriendChip is scanned, it will pop up with your pet’s special identification number. The Avid FriendChip Recovery Network is then contacted and they will provide your information as well as a second contact’s information in the event that you can not be reached. Lastly, you receive a pone call that your pet has been found and you are happily reunited!
